Translink is inviting passengers to reserve a place onboard one of its new Class 4000 trains on a special free return service on Saturday 29 October.

The complimentary service held to celebrate the introduction of the new trains into passenger service on the Larne line, departs from Belfast Central Station at 10.30am or from Larne town at 11.40am.

The service departing from Larne will boast onboard entertainment while refreshments will be served at Great Victoria Street and, according to Frank Moore, Northern Area Route Manager the service is about much more than just the journey:

“This complimentary service is an opportunity for Translink to thank its passengers on the Larne line and those across the network for their patience in the long anticipated passenger upgrade.

“So we would encourage passengers to book their places for family and friends and enjoy the special service from Larne or Belfast.

“They can of course, make their return journey on any scheduled service throughout the day,” said Frank.

To add to the family friendly atmosphere Translink and charity partner Diabetes UK Northern Ireland invite passengers to get into the Halloween spirit and travel in fancy dress, with spot prizes provided for the best costumes and free goodie bags for all participants.

“This is a great opportunity to have some fun while making a contribution to our very worthwhile nominated charity,” continued Frank.

“The free train journey has something to keep everyone entertained, whether you just want to relax in modern and comfortable surroundings or enjoy the free face painting or balloon modelling onboard the service from Larne it is an event for all the family.

“With service and quality key for passengers, we know that value for money continues to be a top priority for many and are confident that the new fleet of trains will help us in our commitment to providing our passengers with modern, reliable and good value travel solutions.”

Places must be reserved in advance online here or telephone the Translink Contact Centre on 028 90 66 66 30.

Successful applicants will then receive a confirmation email and booking reference which they should bring with them to travel on 29 October.
