Listen to this article

Transdev Regio has been awarded the operating license for R6 regional rail services between Leipzig, Grimma and Döbeln.

Chief executive Christian Schreyer welcomed the announcement, adding that the route complements the Leipzig – Chemnitz service which the company began operating in December.

Transdev Regio will take over the R6 line from June this year until December 2025.

In June last year, Transdev was chosen ahead of Deutsche Bahn to operate services on the electric Mittelsachsen rail network.

This latest contract establishes the company further in the Saxony region.
