Thomas The Tank Engine in road accident

The transporter bringing Thomas to the Kent & East Sussex Railway has been involved in a road accident.

Early this morning there was a road traffic accident at Newenden, near the Kent and East Sussex border, where a van hit the transporter carrying Thomas the Tank engine to the K&ESR.

Although the transporter was disabled a replacement tractor unit was dispatched to rescue Thomas and take him to K&ESR.

K&ESR Engineers will rigorously examine Thomas to make sure that he is fit for duty, although there should not be any damage to the locomotive from the accident.

Over 4000 visitors are expected to visit Tenterden Town Station on Sat 23rd Sun 24th and Monday 25th July.

This weekend Thomas will be re-united with his friends and Sir Topham Hatt (The Fat Controller) at the Kent & East Sussex Railway for a ‘Day Out With Thomas’.

Christopher Awdry, author of many of the ‘Thomas’ series books, and the little boy for whom his father wrote the original stories, will also be at Tenterden Town Station on Saturday and Monday for book signings.
