Texas Bullet Train ‘continues to attract world class firms’ with new appointment

Developer Texas Central has appointed WSP to provide engineering services for the project as it moves ahead into the pre-construction phase.

Texas Central CEO Carlos Aguilar said it was an exciting time to partner with the award-winning firm, and that the appointment “further demonstrates the attention the Texas Bullet Train has received from world-class firms.”

WSP’s history in Texas dates back to 1886 when William Barclay Parsons served as chief engineer of the Fort Worth and Rio Grande railway. Parsons co-founded Parsons Brinckerhoff, which became WSP USA in 2017.

On the multi-billion dollar Texas high-speed railway, WSP’s work will focus on engineering, cost estimating and scheduling.

WSP USA president of transportation and infrastructure Joseph Pulicare said: “WSP’s expertise in major infrastructure projects and our team of seasoned professionals position us well to ramp up quickly in support of the Texas Bullet Train.

“This is a transformational project and we are proud to be part of the project team.”

The 240 mile Texas high-speed railway will connect North Texas to Houston in 90 minutes, with a midway stop in the Brazos Valley.

The investor-owned project is not receiving federal or state grants and expects to create 10,000 direct jobs during construction.
