SNCF is to extend its fleet of Francilien commuter trains after ordering 52 more EMUs from Bombardier.

The new trains have been financed by Île-de-France’s transport authority Syndicat des transports d’Île-de-France (STIF) and will operate out of Paris Saint Lazare Station.

The €348 million order is an an option on a framework agreement placed in 2006 for up to 372 vehicles.

Around 200 Francilien trains have been built at Bombardier’s Crespin factory and are now in service since the order was signed 10 years ago.
