Stockholm County Council has awarded Stadler the contract to manufacture 22 new trains for SL’s Roslagsbanan.
The Swiss train builder was chosen ahead of the likes of Bombardier, CAF and Pesa for the SEK 2 billion order.
Stadler will supply 22 three-car trains. Each train will be 60 metres long, with a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
Deliveries will take place in 2020 and the trains will carry their first passengers in 2021.
SL said the new trains, coupled with an upgrade of the Roslagsbanan infrastructure, will allow trains to operate every 10 minutes in peak times on the busiest parts of the network.
