Skanska awarded railway contract in Czech Republic

Skanska has been awarded a contract to modernise the railway junction in Plzen’s 3rd transit corridor, in the Czech Republic.

The contract amounts to CZK 942m, which will be included in order bookings for the fourth quarter.

The customer is the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration (RIA).

Funds will be provided by the State Fund for Transportation Infrastructure and will be co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund.

The project will be completed by Skanska over the next two and a half years.

Skanska Czech Republic, which is the country’s leading construction company, had sales in 2010 of about SEK 10 billion.

The company has 5,600 employees in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Skanska is also active in the Czech Republic in the development of office buildings through Skanska Commercial Development Europe.
