GS Engineering & Construction Corporation has won a contract to build a new “four-in-one” rail and bus depot for Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Described by LTA as a world first, the East Coast Integrated Depot will include a multi-level rail depot, which will serve the Downtown Line, Thompson-East Coast Line and East-West Line.

The three rail depots, which can house 220 trains, and a bus depot will be squeezed into the 36-hectare site. The contract has been valued at S$1.99 billion.

The East Coast section of the Thompson-East Coast Line will be opened in two phases, with the first section due to open in 2023. The final phase of the Downtown Line will open in 2024.
