Ansaldo STS has appointed Siemens to electrify Lime Metro’s Line 2 and the first phase of Line 4.
The double-track, 27-kilometre Line 2 will run east to west, connecting Ate with Callao.
The project also includes an extension of Line 2 to the airport – phase one of Line 4.
Around 80 per cent of the electricity required for the traction power will be supplied by hydroelectric power plants.
Passenger service is due to start on Line 2 in 2017. The final sections will come into operation by 2021.
Siemens will supply six feeder stations, two 20 kV cable distribution rings, 37 station supplies and 21 rectifier substations, plus the SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system.
