Interior and exterior designs for Austria’s newest regional train, the ÖBB Cityjet, have been unveiled.
Siemens is building 100 of the three-car EMUs for Austria’s national rail operator for the country’s Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Styria regions.
Sporting a red and white livery, the new vehicles will have a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
The designs were unveiled by Austrian Transport Minister Doris Bures and chairman of the board of Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) Christian Kern.
The order, which is worth 550 million euros, follows a deal made in 2010 for 200 EMUs from the German manufacturer.
Siemens will deliver the trains to ÖBB from late 2015.
