Unipart has signed a new 10-year deal with Siemens to provide logistics services for the company’s UK rolling stock maintenance arm.

The contract replaces the previous 10-year agreement which terminated at the end of June.

Siemens is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and maintainers of rolling stock in the UK, with a fleet over 1,500 rail vehicles. In June 2011, the company was announced as the preferred bidder for the Thameslink Rolling Stock Programme.

Steve Scrimshaw, UK managing director for Siemens Rail Systems, said: “We are pleased to have engaged Unipart Rail for a further 10 years to support the growth opportunities we see in the UK rolling stock market.

“Both companies are committed to customer service, continuous improvement and mutually beneficial long term collaborative relationships. ”

John Clayton, director of Unipart Group, added: “We are delighted to have entered into a new contract with Siemens Rail Systems.

“Over the last 10 years, we have built an excellent relationship throughout our teams demonstrating how working closely together can produce outstanding performance. We very much look forward to further building on the joint achievements in the years ahead.”
