Siemens has released pictures of the stainless steel body shell for the first train for Florida’s new intercity rail service, Brightline.
The spot welded body shell, the first of its kind in the US, has been manufactured at Siemens’ factory in Sacramento.
Siemens is building five four-car trains for Brightline, which will operate between Miami and West Palm Beach. Additional orders are expected to follow.
The trains, which will be painted either red, orange, green, blue and pink, will be hauled by two dual-mode locomotives.
Construction has also started on Brightline’s maintenance facility in West Palm Beach and new stations in Miami at MiamiCentral, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando.
