Siemens lands US light rail orders

Siemens’ Sacramento factory has received two seperate orders to build new light rail vehicles for Denver and the Twin Cities region.

Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) and Metro Transit have placed order for 29 SD-160 type trams and five extra S70 light rail vehicles respectively.

In Denver, the new fleet, worth $110 million, will begin to enter service in early 2018.

Metro Transit has also placed an order for five more S70 vehicles for Metro Green and Blue lines in the Twin Cities region between St. Paul, Minneapolis and Bloomington.
