Siemens has awarded Nomad Digital the contract to install the on-board passenger Wi-Fi system on Eurostar’s new fleet of e320 trains.

Nomad previously signed a contract in 2011 to install its Wi-Fi solution across Eurostar’s current fleet as it began a major refurbishment programme.

Eurostar is investing £700 million altogether in new trains and the modernisation of the current fleet, which is set to be completed by 2015.

The e320 trains were due to be delivered by December 2014, but delays caused by safety issues have pushed the project into 2015.

Haydn Abbott, Nomad Digital’s interim chief executive, said: “Siemens’ decision to award Nomad the contract to equip Eurostar’s e320 trains with Wi-Fi demonstrates the quality of the Nomad solution as well as the value of its client service.

“We are delighted and proud to be part of such a prestigious project.”

Nigel Broughton, Siemens contract manager, said:  “We are pleased to be working with Nomad on this exciting and high-profile project.

“We hope Eurostar passengers will enjoy the fast and reliable Wi-Fi solution that will be available on board.”
