Sharp rise in Dubai Metro passenger numbers

Passenger numbers on Dubai’s automated metro network rose by around 8.4 per cent in the first half of this year, with patronage up on both the Red and Green lines.

Public transport ridership was up overall, from 262.6 million in 2014 to 271.3 million this year.

Dubai is aiming for public transport to represent 30 per cent of journeys made in the city by 203o, having already increased its use from just 6 per cent in 2006 to 14 per cent in 2014.
