Stadler is completing the final phase of testing on its first two new electric multiple units (EMUs) for Serbian Railways.

The manufacturer is on course to deliver the first train set next month. According to Serbian Railways, the new EMU could be put into revenue service as early as December 2014.

Serbian Railways has ordered 21 four-car FLIRT3 EMUs from Stadler, financed by a €99 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to operate on electrified regional and suburban routes.

Stadler is aiming to deliver three sets by the end of the year. The remaining EMUs will be delivered by August 2015.
