The opening of phase two of the high-speed LGV Est line between Paris and Strasbourg has been delayed by three months.
Originally due to be commissioned in April, the opening will now take place on July 3 following a fatal derailment during testing in November last year.
Once open, the line, which connects Baudrecourt and Vendenheim, will be restricted to single-line working on a section of the route while repairs are completed.
Despite this, journey times will still be reduced by around half an hour.
The first 300-kilometre phase of the LGV Est high-speed TGV line was completed in 2007. Work began on phase two in 2010.
Eleven people were killed and 37 injured when the high-speed test train, which was carrying railway technicians and their families, derailed on phase two of the LGV Est between Baudrecourt and Vendenheim on November 14.
