SBB boosting 3G/4G signal on Zurich S-Bahn

Listen to this article

SBB is continuing a national programme to boost mobile phone coverage across the Swiss rail network by now installing amplifiers on the Zurich S-Bahn

The signal amplifiers, which have already been fitted to SBB’s intercity fleet, will improve 4G and 3G coverage throughout the S-Bahn network.

The first carriage is now being fitted with an amplifier and by 2022, a total of 1,700 carriages will have signal amplifiers on board.

SBB said the newer Stadler KISS trains on the network had been delivered with signal amplifiers already installed, but that the amplifiers would be rolled out across its DTZ, HVZ-D and Domino trains.
