The first of a fleet of 22 new light rail vehicles for a new tram system in Santos, Brazil, have arrived ready for testing.

The first new low-floor vehicles, which have been built by Vossloh and Brazilian firm T’TRANS, will operate on a new light rail system to the south east of São Paulo between Barreiros, St Vincent, and the Port of Santos.

Testing is due to start in August, with the new trams set to begin commercial operation in the first quarter of 2015.

Infrastructure works are 70 per cent complete on the new network and civils work has been completed at six stations.
