The alignment of the Montpellier-Perpignan high-speed TGV line has been confirmed by French Secretary of State for Transport Alain Vidal.
Expected to cost €5.5 billion, the line will fill in the gap between the Nîmes-Montpellier bypass to the north and the Perpignan-Figueras to the south.
The 200-kilometre corridor includes two new stations in Béziers and Narbonne.
The route, which will be used by passenger and freight services, will be submitted to a public enquiry at the end of this year.
