Regional train order for Saxony-Anhalt diesel network

Abellio has placed an order for 52 two-car Coradia Lint 41 DMUs to operate services on non-electrified sections of its Saxony-Anhalt network.

Due to go into service in December 2018, the new trains will be built at Alstom’s factory in Salzgitter, Germany.

The DMUs, which have an operating speed of 140 km/h, will serve lines connecting Magdeburg – the state capital – with Wolfsburg and Stendal, Erfurt and Halle.

The fleet has onboard Wi-Fi, an infotainment system and onboard ticket machines.

Alstom said the trains, which will cost €170 million, will also feature an “innovative lighting concept” which includes “direct illumination of steps, glass walls and luggage racks”.
