German leasing company Railpool has ordered an additional five Vectron AC locomotives from Siemens.
In a statement, Siemens said it would deliver all five this year. The new units, which will take Railpool’s fleet of Vectron locomotives to 19, will operate between Germany, Austria, Hungary and Romania.
The order includes an option for up to 10 additional locomotives.
Torsten Lehnert, chief executive of Railpool, said: “The short-term availability of the Vectron locomotives enables us to respond flexibly to current customer demand.
“With the Vectron, we are well-positioned, especially for operations along the Germany-Austria-Hungary corridor, and we look forward to further expanding our partnership with Siemens.”
