The Rail Innovation Group (RIG) has recognised PassageWay under its peer-reviewed Recognised Innovation Scheme for the company’s TfL Service Status digital signs. This solution meets RIG’s criteria by providing a simple yet impactful approach to enhancing the user experience in the public transport sector.

PassageWay’s use of live local multi-modal transport information, delivered through easily accessible digital signs, breaks with traditional static signage methods and offers a modern alternative that is highly adaptable and scalable.

The product leverages innovative technology to promote public transport accessibility and convenience, making it easier for organisations to support sustainable travel choices for their employees and visitors. With over 300 installations across London, the widespread adoption of these signs in diverse locations, such as workplaces, hospitals, and high street totems, showcases the product’s versatility and effectiveness.

PassageWay’s focus on user-centric design, combined with the application of Nudge Theory to encourage public transport usage, demonstrates a forward-thinking approach that aligns perfectly with the goals of our award. Their commitment to removing barriers for adoption, by providing the service at no cost to organisations, further underlines their dedication to promoting sustainable urban mobility and innovation within the transport industry.

Assessor’s comments: “PassageWay’s TfL Service Status digital signs provide a practical and effective way to promote public transport by making real-time information more accessible. Their approach demonstrates how a user-focused solution can seamlessly integrate into everyday settings and encourage sustainable travel choices.”

“PassageWay’s use of digital technology shows how start-ups can address long-standing barriers to travel by making public transport information both accessible and engaging.”

Chris Johns, Founder & Director, PassageWay said: “It’s fantastic to receive this peer recognition from the Rail Innovation Group. Whilst we frequently receive positive feedback from sign hosts thanking us for the service the recognition from our peers within the marketplace reflects the commercial value of our innovation and its contribution to a thriving, innovative public transport technology sector.”

PassageWay works with Transport Authorities and their partners to supply Real-Time Passenger Information (RTPI) Digital Signs to nudge more customers into choosing public transport.

PassageWay is a SaaS (Software as a Service) platform, integrating with multiple data feeds and with custom designs, monitoring and SLA managed support. PassageWay signs are distributed as URLs for display on Internet connected digital signage screens and are suitable for both portrait and landscape orientation.
