Qbuzz, a subsidiary of Italian state-owned rail operator Trenitalia, is to operate the regional railway line between Geldermalsen and Dordrecht in South Holland.

Qbuzz will replace Arriva as the line’s operator at the end of this year.

The concession is part of a wider deal which will see Qbuzz take over the running of bus services in the Drechtsteden, Alblasserwaard and Vijfheerenlanden (DAV) area.

The eight-year concession includes an annual operating budget of €23 million and the option to extend the concession beyond the original contract term.
