Qatar Rail has announced that it is terminating its contract with the consortium delivering its Major Stations project.
Consolidated Contractors SAL (CCC) will take over from the Samsung, OHL and QBC joint venture (SOQ JV) in the next couple of weeks.
Qatar Rail said “it was doing all it could to minimise any delays and risks to this part of the Doha Metro project” and would “take every step to protect its rights and believes that its decision was made on solid contractual grounds”.
The project includes the construction of the Msheireb and Education City stations of the Doha Metro network.
Qatar Rail recently unveiled the design of the Doha Metro trains and announced the project was approaching 40 per cent completion.
In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, OHL said it believed the reasons given by Qatar Rail “lack of any legitimate grounds” and that it would pursue “all mechanisms set out in the contract” to protect its interests.
