Panda-monium on the Tube

The London Underground was filled with a different breed of tourist yesterday, as more than a hundred pandas made their way onto the Tube to raise awareness about the endangered species.

A total of 108 costumed performers, which represents the 108 pandas that live in the Chengdu Panda Base research centre in Southwest China’s Sichuan province, made their way to Trafalgar Square to take part in a choreographed Tai-Chi-style routine in front of bemused crowds.

London was picked as the location of this year’s Panda Awareness Week ahead of this summer’s Olympic Games.
