Veolia Transport has been awarded a new five-year contract to operate rail services on the Öresundstrafiken network.

The deal, which includes an option for an additional two years, will see Veolia continue to operate trains on the Swedish side of the Öresundstrafiken line, which connects Sweden with Denmark.

Welcoming the contract award, Veolia Transport Sweden chief executive Gunnar Schön said that punctuality and customer satisfaction had both improved since the company began operating trains on the Öresundstrafiken in 2011.

“There are many who have worked hard for us to win the competition, and this is a victory for all employees of Veolia Transport who every day are doing their utmost to make our passengers to get a good and safe trip,” said Schön.

Denmark’s national operator Danske Statsbaner (DSB) will continue to run trains on the Danish side of the system.
