Nuremberg confirms metro order with Siemens

Listen to this article

Nuremberg’s public transport operator, VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft, has exchanged contracts with Siemens for an order for 21 new four-car metro trains.

Although the new trains will be built with two driver’s cabs, they will be capable of full automation. The trains feature wider doors and extendable door steps to speed up boarding and alighting.

The trains, which will be delivered in mid-2018, will go into service on line U1 – Nuremberg’s longest, oldest and busiest metro line.

The order includes options for up to another 13 trains.
