Italy’s high-speed rail open access operator NTV has exercised an option on an earlier order with Alstom for four more Pendolino trains.
The option was included in a contract signed in October 2015 for eight trains and their maintenance.
Alstom is building the seven-car trains at its factory in Savigliano. The first is due to be delivered towards the end of 2017.
Sites in Sesto San Giovanni and Bologna will supply the traction and signalling systems respectively.
The new Pendolino units, which has a maximum speed of 250 km/h, will operate alongside NTV’s existing high-speed AGV fleet.
