Simon Wright MP popped into National Express East Anglia’s Norwich station to present Station Manager Anita Stuart with a ‘Secure Station’ award.

The national awards scheme recognises good practice where train operators have worked in partnership with the British Transport Police and other partners in implementing security measures at stations, taking into account areas such as station design, management practices, security and passenger safety.

The Secure Stations Scheme is directed by the Department for Transport and the British Transport Police.

Andrew Goodrum, National Express East Anglia Customer Services Director said:

‘I should like to thank our team at Norwich station for their efforts in successfully receiving accreditation under the Secure Stations Scheme, and for the support and guidance of British Transport Police in working with National Express on the awards scheme.

“I’m delighted Simon Wright MP could be here to present the local team with their award.”

50 National Express East Anglia stations have now been accredited under the scheme.

“We are pleased that National Express East Anglia’s Norwich station has now been accredited under the Secure Stations Scheme,” said BTP’s Inspector Ian Smart.

“Improving security is extremely important as it reduces the opportunities for criminals and passengers feel safer while using those stations.”

He added: “We will continue to work with National Express East Anglia to ensure that there is a safe and secure environment on the railway at all times.”
