New trains ordered for Bangkok Skytrain

Siemens and Turkish manufacturer Bozankaya have won a contract from Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company (BTSC) to supply 22 new four-car metro trains for the city’s Skytrain.

The trains, which will be built at Bozankaya’s site in Ankara, will be serviced and maintained by Siemens. The German manufacturer will supply the bogies, as well as the traction, braking and auxiliary systems, and will oversee the construction and commissioning of the units.

The first trains are due to be delivered in 2018, with the remaining units to to be delivered in 2019.

As well as operating on the current Skytrain network, the trains will serve the Green Line extensions.
