New chair and vice chair for RIA Northern Ireland Leadership Group

The Railway Industry Association (RIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of the new chair, Tristan McMichael, and vice chair, Ashley Gierth, of the RIA Northern Ireland Leadership Group.

Tristan McMichael, business development director, Ireland and Northern Ireland at Alstom, has over 17 years of experience in the rail industry. He has contracted a range of new railway technologies to the Irish market including new rolling stock, signalling and infrastructure upgrades for Iarnród Éireann (IE), and delivered Luas trams for Transportation Infrastructure Ireland (TII).

Incoming RIA Northern Ireland Chair Tristan McMichael, said: “I am honoured to take on the role of chair for the Railway Industry Association’s new Northern Ireland chapter. There is great momentum across the island’s railway industry and I look forward to working with sector leaders to drive innovation, investment and sustainable growth for the future”.

Ashley Gierth, senior programme manager at Babcock Rail, specialises in the integration of multi-disciplinary projects and recently oversaw the successful rail systems delivery at Belfast Grand Central Station. Previously he worked at Carillion and John Laing Plc in Senior Manager and Director roles.

Commenting on his appointment, incoming RIA Northern Ireland Vice Chair Ashley Gierth, said: “I am delighted to step into the position of vice chair of RIA Northern Ireland and work with industry leaders and stakeholders to grow and develop the railway sector in Northern Ireland”.

RIA Chief Executive Darren Caplan said: “We are excited to welcome Tristan and Ashley as the Chair and Vice Chair of the RIA Northern Ireland Leadership Group. Their combined experience will greatly support out members and help build a strong and sustainable rail supply sector.”
