Leeds station is holding a feel-good event this Saturday (14 August) to celebrate the return of passengers to the railway as Saturday footfall returns to pre-COVID levels.

Footfall at the station has increased by 15% since Saturday 17 July as live events return to Leeds following the lifting of restrictions. The station will be holding an event to welcome passengers back as they reconnect with family, friends and their favourite holiday destinations.

On Saturday, a DJ – @missdjcandy – will be entertaining those travelling through the main concourse and the station’s retailers will be giving away free product samples.

People are encouraged to take a photo at the event and post it on Twitter, tagging @networkraillds and using #BackInLeedsStation for the chance to win a hamper.

Nick Cooper, Network Rail’s Station Manager at Leeds station, said: “It’s wonderful to see footfall returning to pre-COVID levels and we look forward to celebrating the return of passengers to Leeds station with our event this Saturday.

“We want to create a feel-good atmosphere and remind passengers that our station team is here to help everyone travel with confidence.”

Passengers are advised to follow government guidance and wear a face covering in busy indoor settings unless they are exempt. With good ventilation systems on trains, extra cleaning and improved information about quieter times, passengers can continue to travel with confidence.
