Network Rail announce changes to routes

Listen to this article

As part of Network Rail’s aim to become more customer focused, they have announced they are making some changes to the size and shape of some of the routes that they believe will help them work more collaboratively with customers in the months and years ahead.

Changes to routes

They have decided to free up Fiona Taylor, currently route director, Midlands and Continental (M&C), to provide the necessary focus and leadership for these changes and others that may come out of the McNulty review into the future structure of the industry.

Network Rail have also announced they wish to improve our geographical and operational alignment in advance of the Olympics. The HS1 team, led by Richard Schofield, will transfer from Midland & Continental (M&C) to the Kent route, under Dave Ward’s leadership. Kent will become a two area route.

M&C will become an East Midlands route with Martin Frobisher, currently route infrastructure maintenance director M&C, taking up the role of route director, East Midlands . Network Rail claim a replacement for Martin as the route infrastructure maintenance director will be appointed shortly.
