Listen to this article

Myanmar Railways has awarded a contract to Marubeni Corporation for the installation of a new operational control center.

The project, which is funded by a grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), includes the installation of safety equipment from Kyosan Electric at Yangon Central station and Pazundaung station.

Work is due to be completed by the end of July 2016.

In May, Myanmar Railways also appointed Mitsubishi and Hitachi to roll out a modern signalling system between the capital Yangon and Pyuntasa.
