MTU engine order Rolls in

Rolls-Royce subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen has been chosen to supply one hundred MTU Series 400 engines to the China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) in a contract worth more than €30 million.

CRRC is building one hundred freight locomotives for Belgrano Cargas y Logisticas SA of the Argentinian Ministry of Interior and Transport.

The engines selected are MTU 16V 4000 R43 type diesel engines, each with a power output of 2,200 kilowatts.

MTU and CRRC have done business before. 232 engines have already been supplied for freight locomotives for South African operator Transnet and 48 engines for freight locomotives for New Zealand,s Kiwi Rail. There was also an earlier order by the Argentinian Ministry of Interior and Transport for 20 locomotive engines.

All 100 engines will be supplied during 2016, manufactured in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
