TGV Lyria saw traffic increase by 18 per cent to 5.9 million passengers in 2013.
The high-speed service linking France and Switzerland also recorded an improved turnover of €365 million – up 13 per cent on the previous year.
SNCF attributed the rise to the integration of services between Geneva and the south of France into the TGV Lyria network and improved scheduling with SBB services on the Paris-Lausanne line.
The line connecting Paris with Basel and Zurich also saw an increase in passenger numbers, with 800,000 using the service in 2013.
Services linking France with Switzerland’s French-speaking region – Paris and Geneva and Paris and Lausanne – saw further growth with a four per cent rise in passengers to two million last year. This was supported by the introduction of new Euroduplex trains.
