Siemens Mobility’s CEO has been appointed integration manager for the company’s merger with Alstom.
Eight days after a memorandum of understanding to combine the two was announced, Siemens Mobility revealed that Jochen Eickholt will play the crucial role of overseeing the amalgamation of the two companies.
Previously a joint press release said that Eickholt would “assume an important responsibility in the merged entity”, which is being called Siemens Alstom.
An electrical engineer, Eickholt joined Siemens in 1999 and became CEO of the rail division in 2012 and the mobility division in 2014. He began in his new role on October 1.
The 55-years-old is German, trilingual (German, English and French) and has a PhD in production technology.
Sabrina Soussan and Michael Peter have been appointed as his successor as head of Siemens’ Mobility Division.
Soussan will remain CEO of mainline transport and urban transport business units but will also head its service business.
Peter will continue as CEO of the mobility management business unit and head the company’s turnkey solutions and rail electrification businesses too.
Subject to regulatory clearance, the merger of equals to form Siemens Alstom is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, after already receiving unanimous support of both company’s boards. It will be led by Alstom CEO Henri Poupart-Lafarge.
