Mangu Singh named Delhi Metro Chief

After working for nearly 15 years with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Dr. Elattuvalapil Sreedharan handed over the reigns to Mangu Singh, Director (Works) on January 1, 2012.

During his time as Chief of DMRC, Dr Sreedharan was known as the ‘Metro Man’.

Singh joined Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in 1997 in the capacity of Chief Engineer/Chief Project Manager and moved upwards to Executive Director and then Director (Works).

He has been involved in preparing the ‘Master Plan and Detailed Project Reports’ for Metro systems in other cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Singh has worked on the project implementation of the Kolkata Metro and has been responsible for bringing revolutionary changes in the execution of large metro engineering projects (civil) within tight deadlines and budgets.

Singh has vast experience and expertise in construction of underground structures in Urban Environment and is perhaps the ‘most experienced engineer in this field in the country’.

His experience includes rail based transportation projects, its planning & execution and procurement of works & services.

Singh cleared the Indian Railways Services of Engineers (IRSE) through the 1981 Examination conducted by the UPSC.

He then worked in the Indian Railways in various capacities including Deputy Chief Engineer, Kolkata Metro Railway (1989-1996).
