Logico, a division of Freightliner Ltd, recently operated a special train of new multimodal rail containers for Stobart Rail.
Logico hauled the special service from Freightliner’s Garston Terminal to Freightliner’s South Wales International Terminal in Cardiff.
The special consignment of multimodal rail containers will be used by Stobart Rail as it continues to expand its low-carbon rail freight services for customers across the UK.
This service follows previous movements by Freightliner of similar containers from Felixstowe to Widnes after they were imported into the UK at the end of 2011.
Stobart is one of Britain’s big names in logistics and it is good to see them getting involved in rail. Perhaps at some point in the future, they may consider acquiring their own locos or even purchasing one of the smaller independent railfreight companies. Better still, a decent European acquisition could certainly give DB and SNCF a run for their money and fly the flag for the UK.
