FWM Fahrzeugwerke Miraustrasse and Vossloh Kiepe have been awarded a contract to refurbish 10 of Hamburg’s DT3 metro trains.

U-Bahn operator Hamburger Hochbahn is hoping to extend the life of its DT3 vehicles, which have been in service since 1971.

FWM Fahrzeugwerke Miraustrasse has appointed Vossloh Kiepe as a subcontractor to supply new switchgroup control units, integrate a new onboard converter and overhaul the power/brake control systems.

Work will be carried out between June 2016 and November 2017.
