Half-term expected to boost family rail travel

Train companies are expecting a big increase in the number of families travelling by rail over the weekend and over the rest of the half-term week.

Edward Welsh, from the Association of Train Operating Companies, said:

“We’re expecting thousands of families to ditch the car and catch the train instead over the half-term break as families head out to enjoy autumn scenes at parks and gardens across the country.

“For those planning on getting out and about by train, operators are offering some great 2 for 1 entry deals to major attractions and many people can get a third off the cost of their journey with a Railcard.

“Catching the train means it’s not just the kids who get the chance to unwind during the journey.”
