The renewal of Milan’s metro fleet has continued with the introduction of the first of 10 new “Leonardo” trains for line 2.
Built by AnsaldoBreda, now Hitachi Rail Italy, the green and black trains were launched on November 4 by the local officials and the president of ATM, Bruno Rota.
Line 2’s new fleet of six-car trains is part of an EIB-financed €220 million order for 30 new trains. Fourteen of these, which have a red trim, are already in service on line 1.
ATM hopes to commission the 10th train by the end of February next year.
