The Linéov Group, a consortium of SNC-Lavalin, Algoé and Transamo, has been appointed to provide project management assistance for the construction and operation of the new Grand Paris Express Line 18 metro.

Awarded by Société du Grand Paris (SGP), the contract will see Linéov Group supporting the delivery of the new 36-kilometre line, one element of the 200-kilometre Grand Paris network.

Line 18 will link Orly Airport with Versailles, and it will include connections with Lines B and C of the RER.

Commissioning of the first phase is planned for 2024.

By 2030, Paris will have four brand new metro lines (15, 16, 17 and 18) plus extensions to lines 11 and 14.

The new Grand Paris Express orbital network will allow passengers to travel between Parisian suburbs without going through the city centre, significantly reducing existing journey times.

Eric Gratton, vice-president, Cities & Transport, SNC-Lavalin, said: “This contract will reinforce our expertise in the development of mass transit networks, particularly in ÃŽle-de-France, where SNC-Lavalin is already serving as project manager for the Tangentielle Ouest tram-train system and general coordinator for the extension of tramway Line T3 to northern Paris.”

SNC-Lavalin will also conduct a pre-project audit of the planned southern extension of Line 14.
