Deutsche Bahn’s (DB) next-generation ICE 4 trains have been put through their paces in Rail Tec Arsenal’s (RTA) climatic test chamber.

The ICE 4 – Germany’s new class of intercity trains – is being tested against extremes of heat and cold before it goes into trial operation later this year.

DB placed a framework order in 2011 for up to 300 new trains to replace its ICE 1 and ICE 2 fleets.
