Upgrading India’s rail corridor between New Delhi and Jaipur is to be studied by FS Italiane under a deal struck with Indian Railways.

The agreement builds on the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties in January, 2017.

FS is expected to deliver a feasibility study of the necessary infrastructure upgrades on the 300km line by summer, 2018. This will include an analysis of finance options too.

According to FS, around 70 passenger and 20 freight trains travel on the line each day through 17 railway stations, connecting the Indian capital with Jaipur, the main city of Rajasthan.

Infrastructure upgrades will allow trains to travel at speeds of up to 200km/h.
