Swiss-based manufacturer Huber+Suhner has been named as Bombardier’s A-supplier for its cable requirements.
The two companies have collaborated successfully for 20 years. Under the new five-year agreement, most of the cables used in Bombardier’s trains and metro carriages will be the company’s Radox® EN and GKW types.
“The new agreement confirms our market position as a leading international cable provider for railway technology,” commented Patrick Riederer, head of Huber+Suhner’s Low Frequency division. “Bombardier Transportation will install Huber+Suhner cables in the majority of new types of rolling stock and also use them in existing fleets.”
Under previous agreements, Huber+Suhner power, control and databus cables have been installed in more than 20 Bombardier train types, including Delhi metro, the São Paulo monorail and double-deck trains in Switzerland.
Huber+Suhner’s plant in Switzerland manufactures for Bombardier’s European factories, while Asian projects are supplied by the company’s Chinese production facilities.
The new agreement will allow the two companies to drive innovation forward, including fibre-optic, low frequency and wireless solutions in new classes of train.
