First TransPennine Express have commented on the industrial action planned by driver members of the ASLEF union.

The RMT union has also voted in favour of a strike over pay and working conditions.

A spokesperson for the train operator said:

“We are disappointed that our driver colleagues represented by ASLEF have voted in favour of industrial action.

“They have informed us that they intend to strike from 00:01 to 23:59 on Wednesday 24th August and 00:01 to 23:59 on Friday 26th August.

“Details of any amended timetable for Wednesday 24th August and Friday 26th August will be issued shortly on our website.

“We remain hopeful that a solution can be found and we would urge the representing unions to join us in further discussions.

“We will endeavour to update you with information as soon as we have it.”

  1. @46c297e78c3c3626922f885bc1301d11:disqus – agreed completely. I’m utterly disgusted that FTPE are ruining people’s weekends when they have already paid good money to get to these festivals. I for one was planning to go by train to Leeds Festival and I find it absurd that the company want to risk losing a lot of money from honest customers that want to enjoy a weekend of music.
