Hamburger Hochbahn has exercised an option for 27 more DT5 metro trains.
In 2006, Hamburger Hochbahn placed an order for 67 next generation vehicles for Hamburg’s underground rail system with an Alstom/Bombardier consortium.
An extra 13 trains were added in 2012, taking the total number of vehicles ordered to date to 107.
The DT5 is the first train on the Hamburg U-Bahn to have open gangways and is being introduced to replace the DT3 vehicles – the oldest trains on the network.
Currently, 42 DT5 trains are in service.
