Eversholt has brought in Signalling Solutions Limited (SSL) to fit its Class 365 fleet with the European Train Control System (ETCS).

The installation is part of a joint programme between UK rolling stock leasing companies to prepare affected fleets – in this case Govia Thameslink Railway’s Class 365s – for the deployment of ETCS in the UK.

It is the first contract to be awarded from this programme, known as First in Class (FiC), and will involve the installation, integration and testing of the equipment prior to the switch over to ETCS on the East Coast Main Line.

The work will be carried out at Alstom’s Wembley Traincare depot.
